Albany, NY Group Exercise Class Descriptions

BASIC CHISEL: This class is appropriate for all fitness levels. It will teach you the basic exercises to start getting your body tone. No frills.. Come start your day with this great class.

CARDIO BALL & PILATES: This class will strengthen your core, burn calories and tone while incorporating the stability ball. You’ll end class with a fusion of various Pilates and mat exercises. All levels welcome!

CARDIO DANCE: This non-stop, 60 minute workout will melt away fat while boosting your dance skills like never before. This class will combine traditional cardio moves with dance choreography and Zumba. Great for all level

CARDIO SURPRISE: Start your day off right…. Cardio is the name, surprise is the game. This class is always changing; hi/lo, kickboxing, step, whatever cardio it is, it will be fun and get your heart pumping.

CARDIO JO: This interval class includes Kickboxing, Step and Hi/Lo Drills—Jo’s style. Joanne will drill you and get your heart pumping throughout this class. (specialty)

CARDIO KICKBOXING: An action packed, heart pumping class. This is an effective cardio workout guaranteed to make you sweat. Appropriate for all fitness levels.

CARDIO MIX: Another GREAT cardio class. Anything cardio goes!! Step, kickboxing, hi/lo, weights, and much more. This class will get your heart pumping!!

CARDIO PUMP: This class will use no fancy equipment. Floor exercises using your own body weight.

CHISEL: Define and refine! Tone and strengthen your body with resistance bands, weights, the Body Bar, gliders, stability balls and more. Strength training is critical in building bone density. This class is appropriate for all fitness levels.

CORE EXPRESS:This 30 minute class will strengthen your core by using your own body weight, bands, tubes, medicine balls, stability balls and much more. This class is appropriate for all fitness levels

CORE SCULP: Dynamic strength, using your CORE in EVERY exercise. This class will strengthen your entire body as it increases your core strength. Appropriate for all fitness levels

PILATES: Exercises in this class are based upon strengthening the “core” muscles of the abdomen while increasing flexibility in the legs, arms and smaller supporting muscle groups. This class integrates breathing, flexibility, strength, precision and body awareness to lengthen, define and sculpt muscles. Great for all.

PIYO: For those of you looking for the best of both mind -body worlds, this class is a blend of Pilates and Yoga. Traditional yoga poses and sequences will help you to gain flexibility and strength while the Pilates mat work segments will focus on the strengthening and centering of your core. This class is great for beginners as well as advanced yoga and Pilates participants.

POWERSTEP: This step class is all about Power. Get your heart rate up with combinations that appeal to all steppers. Choreography will be fun and athletic based.

POWER YOGA: A vigorous, fitness-based approach to yoga with an emphasis on strength and flexibility. A great class for people who want yoga as a way to work out as well as relax the mind and body.

STEP CHALLENGE: This class is high intensity, faster pace with challenging choreography. Intermediate to advanced level.

STEP INTERVAL: This class combines the best of POWERSTEP and CHISEL. The participant will be challenged with intervals of powerful step moves and intervals of body sculpting. This class is appropriate for all fitness levels.

STUDIO CYCLING: Studio Cycling is a cardio workout on a stationary bike designed to burn calories, build muscle and promote a healthy heart. Classes are real terrain based and focus on cadence, heart rate zones, hill work, climbs and sprints, which makes for an unpredictable ride that is both fun and challenging. Sign up starts 30 minutes prior to the class start time. Participants must sign up 30 minutes prior to the class start time. Water and a towel are recommended.

YOGA: A gentle approach blending various styles of yoga to improve flexibility, balance, strength and breathing techniques. The posture sequence lengthens and stretches the muscles at the same time it builds strength and lean muscle mass. It can reshape your body and mind! This class is wonderful for all fitness levels.

VINYASA YOGA: Emphasizes carefully sequenced poses, continuous movement and deep relaxation.

willPower&grace:A formatted fusion of postures and drills, willPower & grace® is the high-energy, cardiovascular solution that mind-body practitioners have been looking for, and the foot-fitness conditioning program that athletes need. This workout is as philosophical is it is physical; a full-body functional workout meets sports psychology. We integrate the smartest and safest barefoot training methods to strengthen your feet while progressively correcting imbalances in your ankles, knees and hips. This unique workout appeals to “morning moms”, sports athletes, and teens, but must be experienced to be understood.

ZUMBA®: Is a fun & easy-to-follow cardio workout. It incorporates exciting and unique Latin and International music and moves that help burn away those calories. Come shimmy and shake and leave energized.
